# Coming winter in Europe to expose consequences of rejecting Russian energy, official says

> Kirill Dmitriev, Russia’s special presidential envoy for investment and economic cooperation, said the coming winter could be the European Union’s worst since 2022 and would again expose what he called EU bureaucrats’ “energy suicide” in breaking with Russian energy. EU energy chief Dan Jorgensen had said record-high prices and possible US supply disruptions could make the winter especially difficult.
