# Serbia’s NIS asks OFAC to extend operating license beyond September 30

> Serbian oil and gas company NIS has asked the U.S. Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control for a special license allowing it to continue operating after its current license expires on September 30. NIS said uninterrupted operations, the Pancevo refinery and reliable market supplies are vital to Serbia’s energy stability. Its Russian owners have been pushed to sell assets after U.S. sanctions.
