# Kremlin calls EU transfer of €8 billion in Russian asset proceeds to Ukraine theft

> Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the European Union’s transfer of €8 billion in proceeds from frozen Russian assets to Ukraine since 2024 was unlawful and amounted to theft. He said Moscow’s position had not changed, adding that most, but not all, of the Russian assets frozen by the EU are state-owned.
