> Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski met Belarusian Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov at the United Nations to discuss the countries’ border situation and regional security. It was the first high-level meeting between their foreign ministers in a decade. Sikorski said Poland was willing to stabilize ties but stressed that this did not amount to recognizing Alexander Lukashenko’s government, and announced a new Polish embassy building would soon open in Minsk.
