> Thousands protested across France against a bill that would presume police and gendarmes acted in self-defence when using firearms on duty. Critics call it a “licence to kill” amid allegations of police brutality, while supporters say it protects officers facing dangerous conditions. The bill passed the National Assembly and now goes to the Senate.
