# ECB launches ‘digital euro for banks’ and prepares to buy tokenized bonds

> The Eurosystem has launched Pontes, giving banks a live route to settle tokenized assets in central-bank money. The ECB is also preparing to invest a small share of its own funds in euro-denominated tokenized securities, with purchases to settle through the new system. Pontes will expand over time, with full implementation targeted for 2028.
