> Workers extending a cremation ground in Chemmani, in northern Sri Lanka’s Jaffna region, accidentally found human remains. Archaeologists later recovered the skeletal remains of 572 people, including children and infants, in what is believed to be the country’s largest mass grave. Tamil families hope forensic work will help explain wartime disappearances and are demanding an investigation and justice.
