# Ukraine has virtually lost its steel industry, FT reports

> Ukraine has effectively lost its steel industry, Metinvest executive Aleksandr Vodoviz told the Financial Times. Strikes damaged blast furnaces at three facilities in Krivoy Rog, including two Metinvest plants and an ArcelorMittal site. Their shutdowns stopped facilities responsible for 90% of Ukraine’s steel output and could have severe economic and tax consequences.
