> Thousands of Germans protested against the far-right Alternative für Deutschland after its strongest-ever state election result in Saxony-Anhalt. Rallies in Berlin and other cities warned that the party could gain further ground in elections this month in Berlin and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania; police counted 5,000 protesters in Berlin, while organisers said more than 14,000 attended.
