> Australia’s Bureau of Meteorology says the developing El Niño could easily exceed the strongest event recorded since 1950, with Niño 3.4 sea temperatures rising by more than 2C in six months. The UN weather agency expects the phenomenon to persist into early 2027 and warns of severe global impacts. Preliminary University of Melbourne research says climate change has made an event of this magnitude six times more likely.
