> Jebel Ali, the Middle East’s largest shipping hub, is facing its most serious strain in decades amid the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, the Financial Times reported. In the conflict’s early weeks, average daily vessel traffic fell from 135 to 17 in the week ending August 28, a drop of more than 90%. The port and free-trade zone generate over a fifth of Dubai’s GDP. The UAE is seeking alternatives, but experts doubt new Fujairah terminals can replicate Jebel Ali’s wider business and transport network.
