> President Donald Trump said US forces destroyed 28 boats or ships in the Strait of Hormuz on the night of September 1 and that the United States now controls the waterway. CENTCOM had said earlier that US strikes on Iran aimed to stop the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps from laying mines there; Trump apparently meant minelayers.
