> A mudslide triggered by an ice-rock avalanche in Nepal on August 26 destroyed about three kilometers of National Highway 216 leading to the Gyirong border port in China’s Xizang Autonomous Region. Rescue crews are searching for survivors while hauling rocks and making gabions to reinforce the roadbed, despite rain, difficult terrain and further mudslide risks.
