> The death toll from devastating floods in Nepal has risen to 1,056, China Central Television reported, citing Nepalese police. About 4,500 people are listed as missing. The disaster struck northern Nepal on August 26, and preliminary information indicates that a snow and rock avalanche near the Nepal-China border caused the flood wave.
