> Donald Trump threatened further strikes on Iran after the first direct US-Iran exchanges of fire in a month. Iran fired missiles at two US bases in Jordan after a US attack on Larak Island, while Trump said Washington would respond forcefully. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres urged restraint. The escalation coincided with new US sanctions and growing shipping concerns in the Strait of Hormuz. A tanker reported being hit by three projectiles, with no casualties or environmental damage reported.
