> Icelandic voters rejected a proposal to resume negotiations on joining the European Union, with the no side leading 52.5% to 47.5% after almost all votes were counted. The referendum concerned reopening talks, not membership itself. Although nonbinding, the result is expected to be respected by the government led by Prime Minister Kristrun Frostadottir.
