> Nearly 200,000 people were forcibly returned to Haiti in the first eight months of 2026, 10% more than during the same period last year, the UN Security Council heard. The country is facing surging gang violence and nearly 1.5 million internally displaced people. Haiti urged faster deployment of the UN-authorized Gang Suppression Force after a gang attack near Port-au-Prince killed 47 people.
