> US President Donald Trump signed an executive order on August 27 renaming Lake Ontario “Lake America”, saying the change took effect immediately. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said the Great Lake’s name would remain “now and always”. The move followed the collapse of US-Canada trade talks and the announcement of reciprocal tariffs.
