> Colombia’s far-right president, Abelardo de la Espriella, has ordered police and migration authorities to begin joint operations this week to detain and deport migrants in an irregular situation or those accused of crimes. Opposition figures and human rights activists condemn the move as xenophobic and anti-poor, while analysts note that Colombian law does not classify undocumented migrants as “illegal.”
