# German foreign minister acknowledges funding shortfall for military aid to Ukraine

> German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul acknowledged that there is not enough money to pay for weapons for Ukraine. During a visit to Ukraine, he said he had discussed the issue in detail with the country’s new defense minister and would consult Berlin, Brussels and Germany’s finance minister on whether funds earmarked for next year could be released earlier, while noting he could not say whether that would happen.
