> Israel has opened a tender for 1,234 housing units in the E1 area of the occupied West Bank, which links East Jerusalem with Maale Adumim. European, Middle Eastern and other governments warn that settlement construction there could fragment the West Bank, sever Palestinian territorial continuity and undermine prospects for a two-state solution. Mahmoud Abbas said the plan violates international law and UN Security Council Resolution 2334.
