> Around 80 Ukrainian soldiers deserted while training in Saxony-Anhalt since 2022, with cases across Germany estimated in the hundreds, Die Zeit reported. The soldiers had been sent to Germany before returning to fight Russia but allegedly left training grounds without authorization. Most were reportedly mobilized recruits, and they may face prosecution in Ukraine and uncertain legal status in Germany.
