> North Korea fired more than 10 short-range ballistic missiles toward waters east of the Korean Peninsula as shortened US-South Korea military drills neared their end. South Korea held an emergency security meeting and condemned the launches as violations of UN Security Council resolutions. Donald Trump has sought to scale back the drills and revive diplomacy with Kim Jong Un.
