# Only 5.1% of Afghanistan’s workers are women under Taliban

> The International Labour Organization estimates that women make up just 5.1% of Afghanistan’s workers five years after the Taliban returned to power—less than a third of their share in 2019 and 2020. It urged urgent action against women’s severe exclusion and warned that returns from Iran and Pakistan, inflation and the war in Iran are putting further pressure on the labor market.
