> US President Donald Trump has ordered a substantial reduction in American participation in joint exercises with South Korean forces, alarming South Koreans and security experts. Trump said the drills were costly and sent an inappropriate hostile signal to North Korea, while saying Kim Jong Un had responded to his overture about resuming talks. Critics warn the move could weaken alliance coordination and deterrence.
