> South Korean and US forces began the Ulchi Freedom Shield exercises on Monday, and Newsis reported that they were proceeding as planned. President Donald Trump had earlier said he ordered the drills reduced, but South Korea’s Defense Ministry has received no official notice. About 18,000 South Korean troops are taking part, with the exercises scheduled through August 27.
