> On the 81st anniversary of Japan’s World War II surrender, Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi avoided a personal visit to Yasukuni Shrine but sent a proxy to make sacrificial offerings there, while several cabinet ministers visited. South Korea, the DPRK and Russia condemned the observance, warning that Japan’s historical revisionism and military buildup damage trust and threaten regional stability.
