> Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the United Kingdom “the Islamic Republic of Britain” while objecting to British media coverage of Israel. A British and Irish Jewish group condemned the remark as hateful and divisive. Tensions between the governments have grown as the UK Labour government paused trade talks, restricted some arms export licences, sanctioned two Israeli ministers and recognised a Palestinian state.
