> A wildfire in Germany’s western Eifel region spread to within 400 meters of Gey village, prompting officials to evacuate about 1,800 residents early Friday. Around 25 hectares of forest were burning. German farmers also warned that drought and unusually high temperatures could cause severe crop losses, including total losses in parts of the south.
