> A Nature Medicine study says the Ebola outbreak ravaging the Democratic Republic of the Congo began with a new animal-to-human spillover, not a variant from earlier outbreaks. More than 2,000 of 4,449 recorded patients have died. Researchers say transmission has since been predominantly human-to-human, while no vaccine exists for the Bundibugyo strain.
