> A new heatwave building across Europe is expected to bring temperatures above 35C to more than 135 million people, mainly in France, Italy, Spain and the UK. About 340 million Europeans could experience temperatures above 30C on Thursday. France and the UK are facing their fifth heatwave of the summer, while drought is adding pressure to water supplies. UK nurses report collapsing staff, heat-related seizures and inadequate ventilation in NHS workplaces.
