> A magnitude 7.4 earthquake in western Colombia killed more than 260 people and injured thousands, creating the first major leadership test for President Abelardo de la Espriella just 72 hours after his inauguration. Rescue and aid efforts have been complicated by a failed government transition, slow official updates, damaged infrastructure and poor communications in isolated communities.
