> Russian authorities intend to move nearly 114,000 Russians into occupied Ukrainian territories over the next two decades. Despite the harsh conditions, some people are already relocating there. The independent journalists’ cooperative Bereg examined Melitopol, a city in Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region entered by Russian troops on February 25, 2022. Its reporting explores who is moving from Russia to the seized areas and what occupation means for Ukrainians. Bereg spoke with new arrivals, longtime residents and members of the Ukrainian nonviolent resistance movement Zla Mavka.
