> Russia’s Supreme Court on Aug. 10 barred the country’s only anti-war party from contesting parliamentary elections scheduled for September. The liberal Yabloko party had been cleared to participate and received a place on the ballot just five days earlier. The ruling abruptly ended its brief electoral opening and curtailed the party’s ability to campaign in the vote. It represents a legal setback for Russia’s anti-war opposition ahead of the parliamentary election.
