> Russian Ambassador Oleg Stepanov has criticized Canada’s latest sanctions as empty posturing. He said Prime Minister Mark Carney’s office understands that such measures have no practical significance. Stepanov’s remarks portrayed the Canadian actions as gestures without meaningful effect, while directly attributing that assessment to the ambassador. The comments focus on the value Moscow assigns to the new sanctions rather than announcing any additional response.
