> Observers say the new alliance linking Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan is not intended to make the countries fight on one another’s behalf. Instead, they describe it as an effort to prevent Iran and Israel from gaining regional dominance. The assessment raises the question of which country the defense pact is primarily targeting. Its focus is presented as regional power competition rather than a promise of mutual military intervention.
