> Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan signed a mutual defence pact on Friday as the fallout from the US-Iran war continued. In a joint statement, the three allies said aggression against any one of them would be treated as an attack on all three countries. The statement did not clarify whether the agreement requires the partners to undertake any specific military action in one another’s defence. Henry Barkey, an adjunct senior fellow for Middle East studies at the Council on Foreign Relations, offered further insight into the pact.
