> President Donald Trump has renewed his threat to remove Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook. The move is tied to unproven allegations of mortgage fraud against Cook. A letter seen by Bloomberg indicates that the effort could reignite a legal battle over the central bank’s independence. The dispute places Trump’s authority to dismiss a Fed governor at the center of the renewed confrontation.
