> Mexico and Peru have restored diplomatic relations following a dispute over asylum. Their relationship had broken down after former Peruvian Prime Minister Betssy Chávez sought refuge at Mexico’s embassy in November 2025. The embassy request became the central issue in the dispute. The two countries have now moved to re-establish diplomatic ties.
