> NATO says fighter-jet scrambles along its eastern border rose by 250% in July 2026 compared with July 2025. The Alliance attributes the increase to Russian military aircraft flying close to NATO airspace without submitting flight plans. NATO characterized the activity as Russia testing the Alliance’s border. The figures concern the number of times fighters were sent up to respond to the flights.
