# Nato to ‘urgently’ secure air defences for Ukraine as Zelenskyy warns of Russian missile surge

> Nato says it is working to provide Ukraine with the air-defence systems it “urgently needs.” The pledge follows a Russian attack on Wednesday in which Kyiv failed to intercept a single ballistic missile. Volodymyr Zelenskyy has urged allies to increase deliveries of Patriot interceptors. He warned that Moscow was seeking a major expansion of missile production before winter. The Ukrainian president also suggested that delays in western missile supplies could be intended to make Kyiv more willing to compromise in peace talks with Russia.
