# Iran and Oman reach understanding on Hormuz shipping route coordinates

> Iran and Oman have reached an understanding on the geographic coordinates of a shipping route through the Strait of Hormuz, according to Iran’s foreign ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei. A joint statement is being finalised, with Tehran saying this depends on third parties refraining from interference. Baghaei also cautioned that an agreement between the two countries alone would not ensure security in the strategic waterway.
