> A powerful El Niño weather event could worsen food insecurity across some of the world’s most vulnerable regions. The World Food Programme said nearly 49 million additional people could face acute food insecurity by the end of next year. The warning links the potential increase to the effects of a strong weather event. The agency issued the assessment on Wednesday.
