> Australia’s Labor government plans to introduce new rules aimed at reducing net overseas migration and encouraging temporary residents to leave. The move comes after Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke postponed a major address on the issue. Refugee advocates criticised the delay, saying it missed an opportunity to bring Australians together. Government sources said the changes would not reduce net overseas migration below the existing target of 295,000 people this financial year.
