> An estimated 60,000 migrants crossed from Morocco into Ceuta within 24 hours, prompting reactions from conservative leaders across Europe. The influx threatens Ceuta’s open-border policies and has pushed Italy to restore border checks with Spain. The move puts Europe’s open-border system under pressure. It also tests how the system responds to a rapidly developing migrant crisis involving Spain’s territory of Ceuta.
