# Democrats to step up pressure on Trump over Middle East policy, Turkish expert says

> Turkish international security expert Canan Tercan said Democrats, after winning a majority in Congress, would almost certainly press the Trump administration harder over its Middle East policy and seek limits on the war with Iran, new military operations and military spending. She said Israeli pressure influenced the decision to launch the war and weakened Trump domestically. Tercan added that Congress could end or reduce military support for Israel and put a peaceful Gaza settlement on the agenda.
