> The WHO says the Democratic Republic of Congo has reported about 60,000 cholera cases and 1,800 deaths so far this year. Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus called it the country’s worst outbreak in decades. Most cases are in North and South Kivu, but cholera is also spreading along the Congo River basin, with the rainy season posing a risk of faster transmission. Insecurity and poor access to remote areas are hampering the response and efforts to contain Ebola.
