# Central government backs Hong Kong ruling in Joshua Wong case

> Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said Beijing firmly supports Hong Kong in protecting national security and punishing related offenses under the law. He said Joshua Wong was found guilty of conspiring to collude with foreign or external forces to endanger national security, an offense deemed grave, and pleaded guilty. Guo urged outside parties to respect China’s sovereignty and Hong Kong’s rule of law and stop interfering in its judicial affairs.
