> Tens of thousands of union members joined strikes and demonstrations across France on Thursday, calling for higher wages and supporting a growing high school protest movement. Unions said about 260 protests were planned nationwide. Student blockades and teacher walkouts disrupted roughly a third of high schools, public transport was heavily affected, and the Eiffel Tower closed for the day.
