> Democrats won at least 240 House seats and 54 Senate seats in the November 3 midterms, gaining control of both chambers. They flipped at least 31 Republican-held House districts and seven Senate seats. Preliminary estimates put counted ballots at about 122.7 million, with turnout at 48.8 percent, the second-highest for a midterm in more than a century.
